Juanita Williams Flake
January 25, 1923 – February 6, 2013
Juanita Williams Flake, 90, passed away on February 6, 2013. She was born on January 25, 1923 in McCurtain, Oklahoma to Thomas Jefferson and Hattie Mae Norvell Williams.
Her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona when she was a young girl. She graduated from Phoenix Union & North High School. She married Frank Flake on Dec. 4, 1942 in Lubbock, Texas.
They spent the next 25 years traveling the world with the United States Air Force. After retirement, Frank and Juanita lived in Provo for many years and in Phoenix.
Juanita was a master cook, gardener and seamstress. Each spring, hundreds of tulips and daffodils bloomed in her yard. She also had beautiful rose bushes wherever she lived.
She was a volunteer for the Pink Ladies of Utah and served in many capacities, including being past president of the state organization.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings including being a temple worker.
Juanita is survived by a son, G. Tyce (Linda) Flake of Provo; a daughter, Kathleen Flake of Nashville, TN; a sister, Betty (Al) Leadabrand, a brother, Tom (Sue) Williams, both of Sun City West, AZ; 4 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Arizona Memorial Veteran's Cemetery in Phoenix on Feb. 15, 2013.
