Robert H. Thompson, 81, passed away peacefully February 24, surrounded by his loving family in Provo, Utah, after a valiant fight with cancer.

Robert (Bob) was born to Bishop J. Henry and Lora Harmon Thompson on March 18, 1931, in Malta, Idaho, the sixth of seven children. There he earned his Eagle Scout and was captain of the Raft River High School Basketball Team. He attended Brigham Young University (BYU) where he sang with the Air Force ROTC Chorus graduating with a Bachelors.

During the Korean War Bob served in the US Army as a Weapons Instructor and acting Drill Sergeant, earning an Expert Rifle Marksmanship Badge and a Good Conduct Medal. He then served an LDS mission to West Germany soloing with The Salt Lake Mormoniers.

On August 19, 1960, Bob married Sara Beth Keller of Preston, Idaho in the Idaho Falls Temple. In 1963, Bob graduated from BYU with a Masters Degree in Educational Administration and German. He also sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir completing two nationwide tours.

Bob and Beth raised their family of six daughters and one son in Burley, Idaho where Bob taught German and English. Bob and his children enjoyed singing together at many church and civic functions. Bob and Beth served two full-time LDS couple missions, in Houston, Texas and in the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.

His family will forever treasure his stalwart example and we gratefully thank him for sharing his testimony of the Savior with us through his actions, songs, and words. His example will forever be in our hearts.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved, eternal, sweetheart, Beth. He is survived by his sister Janie Thompson, his brother Samuel Oliver Thompson, his seven children: Lora Thompson, Tamina (Kevin) Allred, Becky Richardson, Teresa (Tad) Smallcomb, Linda (Walter-deceased) Hosteen, Sherry (Chris) Diener, and his son Robert Keller (Kristi) Thompson; and his twenty-seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
