Stephen Wright Harris
1945 ~ 2013

Stephen Wright Harris, 67, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 7, 2013. He was born June 4, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Albert B. and Iris Wright Harris. The family resided in Richmond, Utah, until 1958 when they moved to Medford, OR. He graduated from Medford High on June 6, 1963.

Stephen served an LDS Mission to Scotland from 1964-1966. He enlisted in the US Army and served in Viet Nam and Germany from 1967-1970. Upon his discharge from the Army, he attended BYU and then was employed at Brighton Ski Resort. He then began his dream career at Union Pacific Railroad for 33 years, retiring as a Locomotive Engineer. Stephen married Kathleen Johnson on July 13, 1991, in Provo, Utah, and was immediately blessed with four teenagers.

Steve enjoyed skiing and hiking, was an avid reader, was a loyal fan to the Cleveland Indians, and Browns; the Utah Jazz and the Utah State Aggies.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen (Cathy), step-children, James (Raelene) Hoffman, Judy (Adam) Moore, David (Elisa) Hoffman, Gary (Mandy) Hoffman, his brother, Roger, his sister, Judith Ann (J. Michael L.) Benedict and also survived by 17 ½ grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother, David.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the Beehive Home in Draper for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 11, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bonneville 13th Ward Chapel, 1498 East 800 South, Provo, Utah. Family and friends may call Friday morning from 9:15-10:15 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery, Cottonwood Heights, Utah, with full military rites.
